Dental implants can replace a missing tooth or teeth that have been lost due to infection, decay or through an accident. They are a real alternative to traditional false teeth known as dentures, as they offer greater stability, retention and function. They are also more permanent and can last for many years.
Missing teeth can affect your oral health, your ability to chew as well as your self-confidence. Missing teeth may also cause teeth adjacent to the spaces to tilt and misalign over time. In turn, this can lead to further tooth decay and gum disease.
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is surgically placed directly into your jawbone, replacing your missing tooth root. After it’s fitted, the bone surrounding your implant will gradually fuse to the implant, holding it firmly in place.
A false tooth (crown) matching the colour and shape of your existing teeth is then fitted to the top of the implant. This fixed solution restores your natural looking smile.
In order to support replacement teeth, dental implants normally have some form of internal screw thread or post space within the actual titanium coated implant. This allows a variety of components to be fitted which provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges, or precision-fit dentures.
Am I suitable for dental implants?
Most adults are suitable for dental implant treatment, but every case is different. There are various lifestyle habits and medical conditions that can affect your suitability or success rate for this treatment. Further diagnostic tests, such as scans, if required will be discussed before proceeding with a more detailed treatment plan.
Please book a consultation appointment with Dr Sahra Jabbar, our Implant Dentist and Oral Surgeon who can assess your clinical and dental needs for this specific treatment. Sahra will be able to explain what can be done and allay any concerns you may have during this clinical assessment appointment.
Our patients are at the heart of what we do and you are in control of your dental care. Our patients benefit from Dr Jabbar’s vast and specialized experience in this field. You will experience our personalized touch thanks to our focus and ethic of providing excellent patient and customer care within the environment of our smaller tight-knit team.

At Dental Wellbeing, dental implant treatment starts at £2,700.
We take time to understand your needs, explain options and create tailored treatment plans with clear, upfront pricing.
Flexible interest-free payment options are available to help you spread the costs over a 6 or 12 month term. T&Cs apply.
We understand that having surgery can be a time of anxiety and worry. Our caring and experienced team will act as your calming and reassuring hand every step of the way.
Your mouth will be very numb so you will not feel any pain. You will be awake during the painless procedure but if you choose to be sedated, a dental seditionist will administer sedation so you will not remember the actual steps resulting in the surgical placement of the implant into the jawbone underneath the gum.
Three to four months later, once the jawbone grows around the implants and the gum has fully healed around the posts, Sahra will fit the prosthetic teeth to these.
Whether the procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia alone or under intravenous sedation, the expert care you will receive following surgery will be second to none. We will only allow you to go home when Dr Jabbar or the seditionist feels that you are ready to do so.
You can usually return normal activities the next day, unless advised otherwise.
Hot drinks and food should be avoided until the feeling in your mouth has returned. A soft diet is advisable the day after surgery. This will all be explained to you in detail at the time.
The success of your implants will depend on how well you maintain them and the rest of your teeth and gums. You will require a regular professional hygienist session at an interval set by your implant dentist, Dr Jabbar.
You will also be examined by your implant dentist at a review appointment set by her. Your twice daily brushing and flossing regimen will be necessary for long-term success.
